essDOCS Co-CEO & CRO, Alexander Goulandris, recently joined an expert panel on “Discussion and Practice of Digitalized Documents in Oil & Gas Trade Operations” at the 8th China International Oil & Gas Trade Congress, hosted by the Foreign Trade Development Bureau of the Ministry of Commerce on November 8 in Shanghai.

The session brought industry experts together to discuss the application of eDocs and blockchain technology in digitizing the energy industry, covering ways to accelerate trade document digitization in energy, the current state of digitization in the sector plus the main hurdles to digital trade, including key steps being taken to better connect trade participants and their data to overcome these obstacles. 

Co-panelists joining the discussion included Peter Luo, CTO & Vice General Manager, Wanxiang Blockchain Co., Maryam Ayati, General Manager Origination and Investments, Shell International Trading and Supply Co. and Shi Lin, General Manager Assistant, Legal Affairs and Risk Management Department, COSCO SHIPPING Energy Transportation Co., in a talk moderated by Forester Yang, Head of Blockchain Application Development, Sinochem Energy High-Tech Co. 

During the conference, Sinochem Energy Technology Co. released a white paper on “Energy and Chemicals Trading Blockchain Application,” jointly drafted by Sinochem Energy and leading companies in the industry.

essDOCS is currently working with Sinochem Energy on the integration of CargoDocs DocEx into Sinochem’s upcoming DigiDocs solution, which will be put to the test in APAC and Middle East energy and chemicals markets over the coming months.
