essDOCS to provide eDocs service to UK's largest independent blender and supplier of road fuels

VALETTA, MALTA, 30 November 2010: essDOCS, the leading shipping eDocs provider is pleased to announce that Harvest Energy has signed up to use its electronic Safety Data Sheet (eSDS) Services.

eSDS services enable users to comply with global and regional legislation which require the production and distribution of Safety Data Sheets, as well as providing significant time and money saving compared to paper processes.

Alex Goulandris, chief executive officer of essDOCS said:

“We are delighted to welcome Harvest Energy as the 15th customer of our  eSDS Services. We are confident that eSDS can provide real value to users like Harvest who want to be compliant but also need a future-proof  approach to efficiency in document management processes.”

Andy Walker of Harvest Energy Ltd, said:

“eSDS Services are a good solution for Harvest because they allow us to be both operationally efficient and REACH compliant with regard to our safety data sheet obligations. Instead of chasing paper, using an essDOCS eSDS allows us to complete a number of activities simultaneously, which provides significant additional value .”

SDS compliance obligations require cargo owners to manage, send, track and store multi-lingual safety data sheets when hazardous cargoes are transported. Harvest Energy will use the service to comply with the requirements of the Registration, Evaluation, Authorisation and Restriction of Chemical substances (REACH) regulations. Global compliance is also provided to requirements of the Globally Harmonised System (GHS).

essDOCS eSDS services enable simple and efficient production and transmission of SDSs as well as providing additional functionality to users. An eSDS can be automatically re-sent should a safety data sheet change and in addition, eSDSs are stored for 10 years with a full audit trail of all recipients and readers. Users can build their own proprietary library of eSDS material or take advantage of a shared library maintained by testing industry leader SGS.

eSDS documents are generated and managed safely and securely online, via the essDOCS Databridge- eDocs Exchange. The essDOCS Databridge-eDocs Exchange combines a legal framework to access the exchange and IT platform to enable users to transact eDocs legally.

eSDS Services were launched in July 2009 with development input from essDOCS clients such as Morgan Stanley, Hess Corporation, JPMorgan, Mercuria Energy Group, Barclays Capital, Trafigura and Noble Corporation.
