Work is underway under the Memorandum of Understanding signed between FIATA and essDOCS. FIATA is an an international NGO representing the interests of some 40,000 forwarding and logistics firms in some 150 countries, in part through a number of association members' organisations. FIATA has asked essDOCS to implement an electronic version of FIATA's standard form negotiable multi-modal bill of lading, to operate as part of CargoDocs. This is being trialed by several FIATA member associations and individual forwarding companies to ensure that an eFBL can replace the paper format. The trial period is expected to last around 6 months.
