DDG Grain & Oils Workshop held in Shanghai

Our Users & Stakeholders Association, the essDOCS Databridge Development Group (DDG), held its first China-based grain and oils workshop in Shanghai on the 25th of March.
The purpose of the event was to further build industry support and accelerate the adoption of eDocs on grain and soybean imports into China, part of ongoing DDG efforts focusing on regional and commodity-specific paperless trade enablement.
Key agenda items included current paperless status and milestones achieved to date by e-enabled agri houses, current China Customs integration efforts, ePhyto and eCertificates of origin progress, in addition to strategy and next steps for further facilitating paperless trade adoption in China.
The workshop was attended by over 40 representatives of major global and local agri houses including Cargill, Bunge, Louis Dreyfus, COFCO, Noble Agri, Sinograin, Dongling Grain and more, in addition to China-based trade finance bank Agricultural Bank of China.
The Shanghai DDG workshop is preceded by an earlier DDG Grain workshop held in Geneva in December 2014. Following the success of both DDG events, plans are already underway for upcoming workshops to be held in Asia from mid-2015 onward.
