Dimitri Goulandris

Dimitri Goulandris is the founder of The Cycladic Group – an investor in, and creator of, businesses. Founded in 2002, the Group has invested in over 40 businesses and founded five in the U.S., Europe, India, Africa and Latin America. Cycladic works closely with its investee partners to help them achieve their ambitious goals. Dimitri’s interests also hold significant stakes in numerous public companies and he sits on a number of public and private boards.

Previously Dimitri set up and ran the European operations of the private equity firm, Whitney & Company, and spent eight years at Morgan Stanley in its private equity group, structuring derivative products and executing mergers and acquisitions both in New York and in London.

Dimitri has an MBA from the Harvard Business School and a Masters in Electrical & Information Sciences from Cambridge University.

Alexander Goulandris

Alexander Goulandris co-founded essDOCS in 2005 with a mission to eliminate the significant inefficiencies resulting from the use of paper documentation in shipping and trade. He started his career as a maritime lawyer with Holman Fenwick & Willan in London, Greece and Hong Kong. He then joined Freehill, Hogan & Mahar in New York, where his clients included many leading ship operators.

He holds a BSc in Chemistry and Law and a BA in Law, both from the University of Exeter, UK. He also completed the Legal Practice Course at The College of Law, UK and was awarded an MBA in Finance from The Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania, USA. Mr Goulandris is a Director of essDOCS. He was a member of SITPRO’s eBusiness & Standards Policy Group between 2007 and 2010, when Sitpro was abolished. He is also a guest lecturer at the Maritime eCommerce elective, part of City University’s MSC Maritime Operations and Management course.

James W. Fields

James W. Fields is President of Klingenstein, Fields & Co, a leading investment advisory firm, where he manages client accounts and oversees the company’s alternative investment efforts. He began his career at J.P. Morgan Securities, Inc. in the leveraged finance department structuring deals and analyzing capital structures. He later joined the NFL as a Senior Strategic Analyst and subsequently the NY Jets / The Johnson Company as the Strategic and Financial Advisor to the winning bidder for the $635 million purchase of the NY Jets franchise. James then joined the private equity group within Citigroup Alternative Investments where he was an investment officer and Chief Financial Officer, prior to joining Klingenstein, Fields & Co.

James graduated magna cum laude from Harvard University with an A.B. in Economics and received an M.B.A. with honors in Entrepreneurial Management and Finance from the Wharton School.

Vasilis Bacolitsas

Vasilis Bacolitsas serves as Director of Sea Pioneer Shipping Corporation, the dry cargo shipping firm. Vasilis was instrumental in setting up Pioneer Tankers Shipping Corporation in 1995, starting as a 2-product tanker shipping firm and subsequently expanding into a 7-tankers operation that included mainly medium range product tankers and crude oil aframax tankers. He played a key role in reversing both companies’ fortunes over the past two decades, particularly during major market downturns.

Vasilis served as a Board member of the American P&I Club for 10 years and is a regular speaker on P&I related issues at various insurance conferences. He is a member of the Cayman Islands Shipowners Advisory Council(CISAC) and Chairman of the Hellenic Mediterannean Panel(HMP) of Intertanko. Under his leadership the HMP has added 21 new member companies and around 23 mill dwt of new tonnage over the past 4 years.

Apart from Shipping, Vasilis handles all real estate matters for his family, including commercial real estate holdings in the US, residential real estate holdings in Greece and the UK, as well as in Romania.

Vasilis graduated from Queen Mary College (London) in 1992 with a BSc in Economics.

Noel Buttigieg-Scicluna

Trained as a lawyer, Noel Buttigieg-Scicluna is a consultant with EMD, a multidisciplinary firm bringing together legal and financial services and related disciplines. Until 2008 he served as Board Secretary to the Enemalta Corporation, the main provider of energy generation and distribution in the Maltese Islands, Transport Malta, Water Services Corporation and Grand Harbour Regeneration Corporation as well as holding Non-Executive Directorships on a number of boards. Between 1976-1990, Noel practiced law in the Maltese Courts dealing mainly with Commercial and Civil law cases. Between 1987 and 1996 he served as a member of the Board of Directors of the Libyan Maltese Holding Company Limited, a holding company bringing together various companies set up by the Maltese and Libyan Government. His public career has included roles such as Maltese Ambassador to Denmark, and non-resident Ambassador to Sweden, Finland, Norway and Hungary.
