CargoDocs™

CargoDocs for Tankers provides a simple, web-based solution for users to replace paper documentation relating to shipping cargos on Tankers with original electronic documents. Specifically, the service enables the electronic creation, signing, issuing and filing of bills of lading and peripheral documents.

Features

The CargoDocs module allows Banks to:

  • Receive original electronic documents presented under an eUCP Letter of Credit
  • Accept or Reject presented documents
  • Forward presented documents to the issuing bank or the buyer, as relevant
  • Stored securely for 12 years online

Legal

CargoDocs users are required to sign the ESS-Databridge Services & Users Agreement (DSUA) prior to using live eDocs for the first time. The DSUA is a multipartite agreement which binds all CargoDocs users to each other and to ESS.

API-Interface

System integration is optional for customers who wish to enjoy the benefits of straight through processing of all key trade data with documentation, operations, scheduling, accounting and trading systems. ESS can manage B2B messages in a variety of common formats (EDI X12, XML, CSV) and protocols (AS2, HTTPS, FTP). All messaging transaction details are stored for archiving purposes.

Banks can adopt CargoDocs in around 1-2 weeks. See an overview of adoption, which ESS calls ‘onboarding’.
